FishVille

Tips

FishVille Beginners

Assemble your tank – At the start of FishVille, you’ll need to assemble your first aquarium tank. This step is really simple to complete and with just one click on the pop up button you’ll be done. FishVille will automatically setup your account by adding the water, salt, fish, and treasure chest (money).

Selling fish – After your first FishVille tank is assembled you’re ready to take the next step which is selling a fish. Simply click on the sell tool and then click on a Junior fish to sell.

Buying eggs – After you’ve sold some fish, you can move on to buying eggs. All you have to do is click on the Store button and select the Baby fish you want to buy. To add them to your tank, click on the tank to drop the eggs. Once these eggs grow into mature fish, you can sell them for FishVille money and the larger/older they get the more they are worth.

Feeding fish – Your fish will need to eat in order to grow so you’ll need to feed them throughout the day. They will let you know when they are hungry and if you forget to feed them they will die. To feed your fish, click on the Feed Tool and then click anywhere on the tank to sprinkle the fish food. Having lots of well fed fish in your FishVille tank will earn you more FishVille coins.

Give your fish some love – Apparently showing affection towards your fish is important for their happiness. By clicking on the “Give Fish Love” button on the tank it ensures your fish is loved and it also earns you FishVille coins.

Adding FishVille neighbors – You’ll want to add some neighbors so you can later earn more experience points and coins. To do this, just click on the “Invite Friends” tab at the top of the FishVille screen and select the Facebook friends you want to invite. You can manage and view all of your FishVille neighbors by clicking on the “My Neighbors” tab.

Sending/receiving gifts – There are both free gifts and paid gifts in FishVille that you can send to your friends. You can send a free gift to your FishVille neighbors by clicking on the “Free Gifts” tab at the top of the screen. In contrast, when you receive a gift you will be notified and you can accept/reject such gifts by clicking on the gift box in the lower right hand corner of the tank.

Visiting friends’ FishVille tanks – Visiting your friends’ tanks can earn your more experience points and coins but they first must become your FishVille neighbor so make sure you invite them. To visit a neighbor, just click on the “My Neighbors” tab and follow the instructions to help them out. Helping out your FishVille neighbor may include such things as regulating the water temperature of the tank and cleaning the tank.

Buying coins and sand dollars – If you don’t have the time or don’t have the patience to put in the work to earn the FishVille coins or FishVille sand dollars you need you can always take the shortcut and buy them using your credit card or PayPal account. You can do this by clicking on the “Get More Coins” tab at the top of the screen and select the package you want. If you don’t want pay for the coins or sand dollars you can complete one of the free offers listed at the bottom of that page. These free offers are provided by third-party vendors who, in most cases, pay a commission to game developers like Zynga for signing you up for one of these offered services. So you should make it a common practice to read the fine print and don’t give anyone your credit card number if you don’t want to be charged after the free trial offer expires for such service offers. For more information on this check out our Facebook game scam article.

Customizing your fish tank – Once you’ve saved up enough FishVille coins you might want to add some decor to your tank to give it a better look. There are lots of plants, decorations, and backgrounds available to choose from in the FishVille store that can improve the aesthetics of your tank.

Adding new tanks – After you’ve found some success with your first tank you may want to expand your FishVille enterprise. To purchase a new tank, go to the FishVille store and select “Tanks” from the menu. Buying new tanks and stocking them with profitable fish will help you earn more FishVille coins and gain experience points even faster. Thus you’ll reach new FishVille levels sooner and exponentially increase your earnings potential.

How To Play FishVille

Selecting fish – There’s lots of different fish/creatures to choose from and the costs for each vary. For the most part, an expensive fish will yield more profits. Yet the cost of the fish is not the only expense you should consider. The growth rate for each fish is different and a slower growth rate means your absolute expenses will be more in comparison to the high turnover rate of a fish that matures/grows faster.

FishVille experience points allow you to level-up – Experience points are awarded by doing things like buying and selling fish, buying items from the FishVille store, cleaning tanks, regulating temperatures of tanks, and providing help for your FishVille neighbors. In order to reach a new game level, you must attain a certain amount of experience points.

Importance of FishVille neighbors – The number of neighbors dictates your abilities in Facebook’s FishVille game. That is, adding and helping your neighbors earns you more coins and experience points and it unlocks other previously unavailable items like tanks. Thus it is vital for your success in the game to continually add more Facebook friends and invite them to be your FishVille neighbor.

Gifting to neighbors – FishVille gifts are great to receive but giving them to your neighbors is very helpful. Gifting to FishVille neighbors encourages them to help you out and give you gifts in the future too. Sometimes you’ll be given gifts you already have or don’t need but other times you’ll receive hard-to-get items you don’t have enough money for or those which you haven’t unlocked yet.

Helping your neighbors – Just like gifting, it is important to help your FishVille neighbors as they will be more inclined to return the favor. Helping your neighbors includes things like visiting their fish tanks, cleaning them, and feeding their fish. Completing these tasks earns you more experience points and FishVille coins.

Earn FishVille experience point and coins – Experience points and coins for FishVille are awarded when you complete given tasks in the game. To gain experience points and coins complete the following tasks:

  • Buy fish eggs
  •
  • Raise and sell fish
  •
  • Feed and grow fish
  •
  • Clean fish tanks
  • Decorate your fish tank
  • Help your neighbors

FishVille sand dollars – Sand dollars are given out every time you level up. You must gain experience points in order to reach new FishVille levels. The more fish you have in your FishVille tank, the greater experience points you will be awarded.

FishVille Strategy

FishVille iconChoose fish that are highly profitable – There are many different species of fish available in the FishVille store and the price for each varies. Each fish also sells for different amounts and their growth rate or time to maturation differs as well. All these factors should be taken into account when deciding on which fish to purchase as these factors impact your profits. The ROI, or return on investment, can be calculated by taking your profit (sale price – expenses) and dividing it by your expenses. A larger ROI for a given fish means it’s more profitable. For instance, the Mini Dart Goby grows in 5 minutes, sells for 18 coins, and costs 7 coins whereas the Shy Hamlet grows in 4 hours, sells for 89 coins, and costs 35 coins. When calculating the ROI for each we see that the Mini Dart Goby (18-7 / 7 = 1.57 or 157%) is more profitable than the Shy Hamlet (89-35 / 35 = 1.54 or 154%). Of course, we didn’t take into account the time to maturity for each fish in this calculation so that’s something you should consider too. In the examples above the Mini Dart Goby grows in 5 minutes whereas the Shy Hamlet takes 4 hours. You can further normalize for this factor by calculating the profits per minute (see table below).
